is spectacular. Marine life in all its forms on the shores and beneath the waves is diverse and
stunning. The fascinating coastal dune forest with beautiful old trees provides a wealth of
habitats for birds and animals. Here the cry of the fish eagle is often heard, while monkeys,
bushpig and small antelope abound.
Occasionally an otter or a ratel is seen by a lucky visitor. Some of the beaches have
estuaries where fish and other sea creatures come to spawn. These estuaries are often lined with
mangrove swamps where crocodiles and occasionally hippo can be spotted.
