WEENEN GAME RESERVE - ACCOMMODATION OVERVIEW
Wild and undulating African savannah, thornveld valleys, spectacular river gorges and distant
mountain peaks form the backdrop for a visit to Weenen Game Reserve. The Bushmans River flowing
through a deep-cut gorge, rich valley bushveld vegetation and the diversity of flora and fauna
established Weenen Game Reserve as KwaZulu-Natals favourite Midlands wildlife destination.
An excellent road network and guided and self guided trails allows visitors to view a variety of
wildlife species including black and white rhino, giraffe, zebra, kudu, ostrich, common reedbuck,
grey duiker, bushbuck, steenbuck and mountain reedbuck. Over 250 bird species have also been
recorded. Guest facilities include a game-viewing hide near one of the waterholes, a vulture
feeding site and three picnic sites with barbecue facilities. For the discerning visitor who
requires peace and solitude Weenen Cottage is a 5-bed cottage with two bedrooms, lounge/dining
room, kitchen and bathroom with barbecue facilities.
The Nyandu Tented Environmental Camp, nestling under a canopy of acacia trees alongside the
banks of the Nyandu River can accommodate 20 adults or 30 children. The kitchen tent has cooking
