Office hours: A roving field ranger is on duty during the day as the office is open at irregular hours.

There is no camp at Umtamvuna Nature Reserve.

Special precautions: As the rivers in the reserve contain bilharzia, visitors are advised not to swim and do so at their own risk.

Visitors are also advised not to drink river water.

How to get there:
Follow the main south coast road to Port Edward from Durban. At the crossroad to Port Edward turn right and travel along the Izingolweni road for 10 km where you will see a sign indicating the reserve entrance.

Pets are not permitted at Reserve.

"No entry fees will be charged for visits by KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Primary and Secondary School groups, from KZN Schools to KZN Protected Areas and St Lucia Crocodile Centre provided that such visits:
1.are authorised by the Head of the school
2. are booked in advance with the Officer in Charge of the Protected Area or Crocodile Centre
3. do not take place over weekends, during KZN Provincial school holidays or Public Holidays".

There are no facilities for people with disabilities.
