EMAKHOSINI OPHATHE HERITAGE PARK - WILDLIFE
With its large range of habitats the park supports a variety of animals including black and white rhino, buffalo, leopard, hyaena, giraffe, zebra, waterbuck, kudu, blue wildebeest, nyala, bushbuck, warthog, impala and Nguni cattle.
A robust list of bird species can be observed in the reserve namely, blue crane, ground hombills, bald ibis, secretary bird, black eagle, marshall eagle and vultures, which are known to roost in Umfolozi Game Reserve and are often seen flying overhead.

Bird and game viewing opportunities by two wheel drive vehicle in the Ophathe section of the park are good. For the more adventurous at heart, there is a rugged 4X4 trail which continues deep into the Ophathe section of the park and which traverses the rugged landscape of the White Umfolozi River catchment.
