EMAKHOSINI OPHATHE HERITAGE PARK - VITAL INFORMATION
Gates like most Zululand Reserves open at 05h00 in summer and 06h00 in winter. They close at 19h00 in summer and 18h00 during winter months.
No supplies are available in the reserve but a full range of services are available in Ulundi. The nearest hospital is at Vryheid (120km), while a police station is situated at Ulundi (10km).

How to get there
Off the main tar road linking Melmoth and Vryheid (the R68 which becomes the R34), take the R66 to Ulundi. The main entrance to the Ophathe section of the park is on the right hand side of the road approximately 1 km before crossing the White Umfolozi River to Ulundi. Continuing on to Ulundi, take the turn-off to the airport, continue past the airport for approximately 6 km to reach Ondini Museum. Mgungundlovu and the Spirit of the Emakhosini Memorial have directional signage off the main road linking Melmoth and Vryheid.

Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park is about 36 km away from Ulundi on a gravel road.

There is an airport at Ulundi where flights can be booked to and from Pietermaritzburg and Durban on weekdays only.

There is an historical museum about 2 km from Ulundi on a gravel road.
