GREATER ST LUCIA WETLAND PARK - DUGANDLOVU CAMP - FALSE BAY ACCOMMODATION
False Bay Park is on the Western Shores of the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, a
World Heritage Site.
Fascinating marine and coral fossils are still found scattered throughout the area and many
good examples can be seen in the small yet attractive interpretative centre at the reception
office.
This small and unique reserve embraces a variety of habitats including sand forest, thornveld
and open savannah. The unique diversity facilitates excellent bird watching and game viewing
opportunities. Two self-guided walking trails have been established to allow visitors to enjoy the
full benefit of the area.
High concentrations of crocodiles in the lake prevent swimming, however boating and fishing are
very popular and a viewing platform on the lake side near the camp commands magnificent views of
the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, especially at sunset, making it a great place to enjoy
sundowners in good company while you reflect on the day.
Dugandlovu Rustic Camp has four four-bed huts with basic comforts including cold water showers
(it rarely gets very cold), basic kitchen facilities including a deepfreeze, firewood and paraffin
lamps. Guests need to provide their own bedding. A number of campsites with beautiful views across
the lake are also available.
