ST LUCIA ESTUARY - CROCODILE CENTRE
VISIT THE ST LUCIA CROCODILE CENTRE AND MEET THE LIVING DINOSAURS!
Situated close to St Lucia Village, the Crocodile Centre offers an exciting and informative
outing for visitors. A series of displays depict the Lake St Lucia system from the sea, the beach,
dune forests, grasslands, to the lake shore.
Informative crocodile exhibits portray the lives of these fascinating reptiles.Our aquaria
hold examples of living organisms which are found in the mangrove swamps and rock pools along the
sea and lake shores.
All the African species of crocodile can be seen, namely the Nile, Long-snouted and Dwarf
crocodile.Some of the largest crocodiles in the country can be found at the Croc Centre.
THE SNAKE DISPLAY SECTION IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR RENOVATION - INCONVENIENCE REGRETTED!
The Crocodile Centre now hosts an impressive collection of snakes. A snake
demonstration is given every Saturday afternoon at 14hOO.
Come and see our unique Cycad Garden. Have a look at our oldest living fossils.A large
variety of birdlife (including the illlusive palmnut vulture) can be seen at the Centre. In the
adjacent game park hippopotamus, crocodile, leopard and other game can be seen. Crocodile
feeding for public demonstration takes place on Saturday afternoons at 15hOO (weather permitting)
as well as on Wednesday evenings at 18h30. The evening feeding is only during the summer
months.Enjoy a guided tour conducted by one of our SATOUR registered guides who work with
crocodiles daily and who are truly in tune with these awesome creatures.
The Crocodile Centre boasts the original and the best curio shop in St Lucia. An interesting
selection of books, souvenirs and traditional Zulu crafts are available. Young cycad plants, with
permits, are available for sale.
Feeling hungry? Thirsty? Enjoy hot or cold drinks or a cold beer relaxing in exquisite natural
surrounds. Lunches and breakfasts are also served.
The Crocodile Centre is open every day (except Christmas Day and New Years Day)
