ST LUCIA ESTUARY - ACCOMMODATION OVERVIEW
St Lucia Estuary in The Greater St Lucia Wetland Park is the springboard for exploring the
wonders of the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park.
This vast and fascinating wetland area has some of the highest vegetated dunes in the world
and many wildlife and bird species.
Activities include fishing and boating, and game viewing.
A four kilometre self-guided trail leads through the coastal forest along the edge of the
estuary and the Santa Lucia boat tour provides outstanding sightings of hippo and crocodile.
Some of the largest live crocodiles in Southern Africa are the main attraction of the
Crocodile Centre situated just north of St Lucia town.
There are two caravanning and camping grounds. Sugarloaf Campsite has 92 large shady sites
which accommodate caravans and tents, each with barbecue facilities and plug points. The camp has a
swimming pool with a picnic facility and 24 hour entrance-gate control. The modern ablutions have
hot and cold running water, flush toilets, laundry and dishwashing facilities.
