uKHAHLAMBA DRAKENSBERG - GARDEN CASTLE CAMPSITE

Welcome to the Hermits Wood campsite at Garden Castle. The newly established Hermits Wood camp site within the Garden Castle Nature Reserve is situated within the Mlambonja River valley and looks onto the Garden Castle peak to the South and the Majestic Rhino Peak on the Northern escarpment. 

The camp sites are conveniently situated in close proximity to the major hiking routes as well as the reserve office and shop, where curios and basic food stuff can be purchased. Access to the campsites is through the parking area set aside for visitors utilizing the camp grounds.
The campsite comprises ten campsites. The sites are situated on a grassed bank with a rustic communal ablution with hot water showers for those cold winter evenings. Please note that the reserve has no power points and you are required to supply your own gas lighting.
A gas freezer is available in the campsite.

Braai facilities are available.
The picnic sites in the day visitor area also have braai facilities and are available for the making of fires.

May we draw your attention to the following :

Campsite fees are payable on arrival.

Camping is only allowed on the allocated site.

Campers must bring their own equipment lighting etc.

Please note that the camp ground is not fenced and therefore the game has free access to the area. BEWARE of eland within the campsite and ablutions after dark.

All children under the age of eight are to be accompanied to the ablution block after dark.

No pets are allowed within the reserve.

No generators are allowed within the camp grounds.

Noise is not permitted after 21hOO.

Visitors are requested to use only demarcated foot paths when walking in the reserve. This assists with soil erosion prevention.

No laundry facilities are available.
