KZN Wildlife introduces our guests to an exciting
world of natural beauty and splendour. This is your opportunity to discover mountain grandeur,
valley bushveld and densely wooded riverine gorges, cascading waterfalls and forested pathways,
acacia thornveld and ancient tracks through the wilderness.
Stretching from the magnificent Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Mountains in the
west across the expanse of the exquisitely beautiful green hills of KwaZulu-Natal, to the rugged
splendour of the Game Reserves of Zululand and on to the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park fringed by
the endless golden beaches of the Indian Ocean coast.
Opportunities for unique encounters with wildlife and breathtaking
scenery abound and our guests can satisfy their every desire for discovery, adventure or relaxation
in some of Africa’s most exciting and scenic natural surroundings.
Carefully situated in areas of exceptional beauty, KZN Wildlife offers a wide range of
accommodation to suit every taste and pocket.
Here is a guide to the different types of facility to help you select the perfect spot for
your holiday.
At the top of the range are the exclusive private lodges attached to some of our bigger
camps. These are fully equipped houses with en-suite bathrooms, every modern convenience and
attendants to do the cooking and cleaning.
You bring your food and drink which is then prepared for you. Similar to these, but
constructed from natural materials like reeds and thatch, are our Bush Lodges set deep in the heart
of the bushveld. They provide the same level of service and in addition there is a field ranger to
accompany you on your game drives and walks.
A step down from these are our Bush Camps with the same natural setting but somewhat more
rustic, where visitors are responsible for their own cooking and you can book a field ranger
for your walks and drives. They are fully equipped with bedding, cutlery and crockery and kitchen
utensils.
We call our collections of accommodation units 'hutted camps' to destinguish them from our
'campsites' where you provide your own accommodation in the form of caravans or tents.
The accommodation units in these 'hutted camps' vary widely in style depending on whether
they are in the 'Berg, Bush or on the Beach. Cottages, Chalets and Bungalows range from six to two
beds. They have full bathrooms, bedding and in the case of non self-catering units, usually a
fridge and an electric kettle. Self-catering units have bedding, cutlery, crockery and fully
equipped kitchens. There are units that use shared ablution and kitchen facilities and rustic
units. In the Drakensberg we have a number of old farm cottages with basis facilities and on the
coast our accommodation units take the form of log cabins. There are tented camps in some of our
Zululand reserves which have en-suite bathrooms and kitchen facilities. For the hiking fraternity
there are mountain huts and caves in the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park. Our larger camps have
restaurants and bars while the smaller camps have shops where limited supplies can be purchased.
Most of our parks in KwaZulu-Natal have camping facilities and these vary from the
sophistication of power and water points, laundries and kitchens and ablutions with hot and cold
water, to very rustic with cold water only.
