MEDIA LIAISON
KZN Wildlife enjoys a very open working relationship with the media and realises the
benefits of such a relationship.
We believe that open communication reduces the possibilities of misconstruction and
misunderstanding, and leads to quality journalism.
KZN Wildlife also believes in transparency and will endeavour as far as possible to provide
journalists with up-to-date and accurate information.
Any journalist may attend the monthly meetings of the KZN Nature Conservation Board, provided
prior arrangements are made through the Media Liaison Officer.
The organisation operates according to a Media Policy which lays down the way in which it will
interact with the media.
FILMING AND TV DOCUMENTARIES.
All production houses wishing to operate in any KZN Wildlife protected area should contact
one of the people detailed below as far ahead of the time as possible.
All filming work is subject to a filming fee and requires a
signed agreement before the
team may commence work. The Media section will co-ordinate the shoot and make all the necessary
arrangements, set up interviews and make the required accommodation bookings.
JOURNALISTS.
All journalists wishing to write about KZN Wildlife protected areas, staff, facilities and
operations should contact the person listed below for assistance. Media section staff will
co-ordinate the visit and make the necessary arrangements.
PHOTOGRAPHERS.
Photographers wishing to operate in KZN Wildlife protected areas should also make their
arrangements through the media section in order to have access to the best photo opportunities.
Although no charge is levied for photographers, should they require assistance from staff, a fee
will be charged.
As different types of media operations are subject to differing operation rules, ALL media
wishing to involve themselves with any aspect of KZN Wildlife operations are asked to work through
the KZN Wildlife media section.
Media and PR in KZN Wildlife are run from the office of the Chief Executive Officer.
The Media Liaison Officer is assisted by a Media Programmes Co-ordinator who is responsible
for co-ordinating media activities in the parks, and a Media Assistant, who assists with direct
media contact.
