Amazizi Annual Hunt

MweniHomestead1 Thumb Royal Natal Guests, please be advised that the Gorge Walk, Gorge Car Park, Lion Ridge, Eastern Buttress, Vemvaan and Policeman's Helmet will be closed on the 16th of June 2016 for the duration of the Annual Traditional Amzizi Community Hunt.

Paths to these areas will be closed for safety reasons for the duration of the 16th of June 2016. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

The annual Amazizi hunt is held every year in June by local community members outside the World Heritage Site and has taken place for a number of years. It forms part of a management agreement with the community, which enables us to manage the Lion Ridge area south of the Tukela River. This area is not part of Royal Natal and is owned by the Ingonyama Trust Board, who in turn have given it to the Amazizi to reside in.

Unfortunately we have no control over their activities there and the impacts of this activity on our guests is regrettable. Please could you forward any complaints or concerns to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and they will be attended to.
