Hilltop Centenary Centre


The Centenary Centre is in the Eastern section of Imfolozi and incorporates rhino bomas, antelope pens, an audiovisual hall, and a rhino museum and information centre. The design of the new centre enables visitors to view animals in transit to their new homes.

HUP is famous for operation rhino that saved the white rhino from extinction. Since the starts of the operation rhino in 1960’s, over 10 000 rhinos have been trans-located world-wide. The dedicated game capture team now move 5 000 – 6000 animals per year, including antelope, black and white rhino, zebra hippo and giraffe. This has resulted in major contributions to South Africa’s wildlife industry.

The need for improved game capture, visitor and education facilities resulted in EzemveloWildlife building the Centenary Centre in the in the centre in the Eastern section of Imfolozi. The centre has amble parking, a fast food and refreshment kiosk, rhino and antelope bomas open to the public between April and June each year, and curios are sold by the local communities at the Vulamehlo Craft Market, The history of game capture and preset day techniques are illustrated through videos and static displays in the exhibition halls.
