EZEMVELO To Lead The Drive To Legalize The Sale Of Rhino Horn

01EZEMVELO is in support of the legalisation of rhino horns and will soon finalise the establishment of a team that will lobby the national government. This team will have to develop a document which will be presented to all international organisations that govern the conservation of the rhino. KZN Wildlife welcomes your contributions to, and comments on the following processes that are being initiated for the protected areas in KwaZulu-Natal:
Procedures and Standard Terms and Conditions Registration, Permits and Licences for Zoos, Game Parks, Aviaries and any other Keeping in Captivity of any Live Mammal, Game, Wild Bird, Protected Indigenous Reptile, Invertebrate or Amphibian, or for Posession of Live Specimens of Listed Threatened or Protected Species, and for Exhibit, Alienation (Sale, Exchange, Release, Trade), Transportation or Breeding of any Such Animal Possessed or Held in Captivity.

EXTENSION OF COMMENT PERIOD - PROCEDURES AND STANDARD TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR THE KEEPING OF ANIMALS IN CAPTIVITY

Dr Zweli Mkhize, Premier of Kwazulu-Natal and Mr Z.C. Ngidi, Chairman of the KwaZulu-Natal Nature Conservation Board, have agreed to extend the deadline for submission of comments on the proposed Procedures and Standard Terms and Conditions for the Keeping of Animals in Captivity.

Interested and Affected Parties are now invited to submit written comment by no later than 12h00 on 15 February 2011. Submissions should provide your contact details and be titled as: ‘Animals in Captivity Procedures and Standard Terms and Conditions 2010’. Comments may be:

Ezemvelo-Unizul Partnership Strengthened

Ezemvelo Celebrates Wetlands Day

06Nkosi Baleni, a local board member of the Ntsikeni Nature Reserve, urged members of the community to protect the nature reserve and to comply with the rules to help conserve it. He said those words when Ezemvelo paid a special visit to Ntsikeni Nature Reserve to celebrate the World Wetlands Day which is celebrated annually on the 2nd of February.
