Important Information

  1. All reservations are accepted subject to the provisions of the Natal Nature Conservation Ordinance, No. 15 of 1974, the KwaZulu-Natal Nature Conservation Act, No. 29 of 1992, as well as the KwaZulu-Natal Nature Conservation Management Act, No. 9 of 1997, and the regulations promulgated thereunder, as amended.
  2. New tariffs are applicable from November each year. Quotes are based on the current tariff, differences to be settled on arrival at the camp. The Board reserves the right to amend tariffs and levies without prior notice.
  3. Low Season: Applies Sunday to Thursday inclusive, provided it is out of South African school holidays and not over long weekends (public holidays that fall on Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday), or during special events.NB: Low season rates are not applicable to tour operators and travel agents.
    Refunds of bookings prior to arrival date will be charged a cancellation fee as follows:
    - Cancellations > than 45 days prior to arrival = 10% of the net amount. (Min R100.00)
    Cancellation within 44 to 30 days to arrival = 25% of the net amount.
    - Cancellation within 29 to 15 days to arrival = 50% of the net amount.
    - Cancellation within 14 days of arrival date = 100% of the net amount.
  4. Visitors shall inform the Reservations office in Pietermaritzburg of changes to reservations.
  5. Visitors are requested to note arrival and departure times as well as gate closing times.
    Check in time - 14h00 until reception closes on the arrival date. Check out time - 10h00 on the day of the departure.
    All Camps (excludingthose below): Oct to Mar = 50h00 - 19h00 and Apr to Sept = 06h00 - 18h00.
    Thendele: Oct - Mar = 05h00 - 22h00 and Apr to Sept 06h00 - 22h00.
    Cape Vidal: Nov to Mar = 05h00- 19h00 and Apr to Oct 06h00 - 18h00.
    Hilltop, Imfolozi & Ithala: Nov to Feb = 05h00 - 19h00 and Mar to Oct 06h00 - 18h00
    Monks Cowl: 06h00 to 18h00 all year round
    Didima, Midmar & Sodwana Bay are 24 Hours.

  6. Gate Entry fees & Conservation Levy:
    Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park only: International visitors pay a conservation levy of R110.00 per person per night.
    South African visitors pay R45.00 per person per night. Children aged 3 to 12yrs pay half the adult rate.
    Ezemvelo Gates - RHINO CARD HOLDERS - Free Entry at Ezemvelo gates (Max 8 ppl).
    Entry fee is payable at all Isimangaliso gates.

  7. The total number ofpeople may under no circumstances exceed the total number of beds indicated on the advice form.
  8. All Hutted Accomodation units are fully equipped, including refrigerators, bedding, crockery and cutlery (except in all rustic accommodation and mountain huts).
  9. No mechanical generators are allowed. Visitors are advised to bring a torch.
  10. No Pets allowed in any reserve or Park.
  11. Specific accommodation units, campsites or requests cannot always be guaranteed.
  12. Foodstuffs are obtainable at certain reserves and rest camps. Ithala (Ntshondwe), Giants Castle, Didima, and Hluhluwe (Hilltop) have restaurant facilities. Take away light meals are avaliable at Mkhuze.
You are advised to take precautions against malaria before, during and after your visit to reserves north of the Tugela River. Please consult your Doctor/Pharmacist.
