Rhino poaching is a complex issue and Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife is implementing the necessary multipronged approach.

The front­page article titled “Helicopters down — rhino poaching up” (The Witness, February 23) refers. It will be wrong for the current biodiversity leadership in our province, country and continent to remain silent and allow unscientific and untested artificial conjecture to be paraded as fact in the public domain and mislead the unsuspecting public.

 Guests visting Mkhuze, are requested to be aware that roadworks will be starting as of the 24 Feb 2016 in the reserve.

  Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife (Ezemvelo) has sadly learnt of the death of one of its long serving employees who was fatally attacked by a sick lioness at Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park (HiP). The incident happened today (15 Feb 2016) around 7:30am.

 Previous bookings for campsites for December used to be opened on the 1st of February at 12:00.

This will no longer be the case for emailed pre-bookings. All bookings will now only be able to be made via the Online booking portal in order to pre-book, or it will be on a first come first served basis, telephonically, from the 1st of December.

Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, in partnership with a number of donors, introduced tracking dogs into the Park in December 2015. Working Dogs are widely recognised as both a strong deterrent to rhino poaching but also a remarkable reactive tool for tracking poachers down.

About our Internships:

Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

• An appropriate 3 years or above tertiary qualification, Degree/National Diploma relevant to the above-mentioned fields (Provide certified proof of obtained Qualification). Proof from your institution or college for learnership purposes must be provided.
• An applicant must be unemployed and provide an affidavit of being unemployed signed by the Commissioner of Oaths.
• Applicants should be between 18 to 30 years of age.
• Applicants must be South African citizens.

Please note that the above requirements apply equally to learnerships and internships.
